Once only used by larger companies, a lot of mid size and smaller companies are utilising automated marketing. It is an area that needs consideration as it can be expensive to keep fully up to date. But the principles are sound - you need to keep the right amount of contact with your customers. You also need to make sure your marketing represents who your and gives a clear message to potential clients.

Enews Communication

Electronic newsletters are a great way to keep your name in front of clients and potential clients. However what is too little and what is too much? The answer is whatever suits your clients! Also is it relevant to them today?

Remember the gold fish principle. You don't get their attention with the heading you will probably not get it read. They delete it, thats a good thing as you can get a second chance, later on. However if they unsubscribe then it's hard to get them back again. Hence that's what they will do if they perceive it as always "not for them". Remember hungry goldfish are happy goldfish!

Personal Emails

Cold calling is dead! Hurray. Well almost. The cold calling we remember of persistence until the client gives in has largely be replaced. However it you do not have an email address, modern direct communication is hard. So call to get an email address and then send an email that is:

  • short and simple - black and white text 
  • easy to read - no spelling and grammar errors 
  • links – one, maybe
  • attachments – none
  • is relevant to the reader

There are a few more (not a hundred!) rules that need to be followed. Trainees following our methods get results. We have had companies call back to volunteer an appointment!

Communicate

It's all about communication with your clients and prospective clients but you can't "just do it" you must "do it right". Doing it wrong will work against you.
